Suzi Quatro – painted denim vest

I painted this vest to wear to Suzi Quatro’s Melbourne concert at Hamer Hall on 18-02-17.
I planned to transfer the artwork, which was drawn with a heat transfer pencil on baking paper, with an iron but it didn’t work, hence the wonky text.
I used normal acrylic paints mixed with Jo Sonja’s textile medium. I also sealed the paint with this textile medium.
The silver studs were added, and prior to painting I did spray bleach onto parts of the vest to lighten the areas I was going to paint on.

Grand Final Rivals – For Variety, The Children’s Charity – Speed Drawing

Grand Final Rivals
For the Variety Great Grand Final Lunch on Wednesday 28th of September, 2016, which will raise funds for sick, disadvantaged and special needs children throughout Australia.

Size: 11×14 inches
Materials: 300GSM watercolor paper, Prismacolor and Faber Castell watercolor and coloured pencils, Copic, Letraset and Mont Marte markers, Faber Castell Gelato pigment sticks, Steatdtler fineliners, Derwent blender pens, 2B pencil for sketching.
Approximately 12 hours of work.

There’s no bigger rivals in the AFL than Carlton and Collingwood, and this artwork represents that. I wanted to create something colourful and lighthearted to reflect what a part of Variety is about. Although raising funds for sick and disadvantaged children, the flamboyant Variety Bash is one of the most recognised car rallies in Australia.

That’s Melbourne – Art by Izabelle Falvo for the Dandelion Wishes Charity Gala

That’s Melbourne
For the Dandelion Wishes Charity Gala on February 26th, 2016, which will raise funds for the new Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton, Victoria.
Size: A2
Materials: Watercolor, coloured pencil, markers, acrylic paint and ink on paper
Approximately 20 hours of work.

A first draft of this was planned to arrange the components of this image. I wanted a clean artwork for the final piece, so I created a first draft to eventually be traced. I had the first draft scanned and scaled down, and then reprinted to allow room for the portrait, which was added into the final copy.

That’s Melbourne represents the culture and landmarks of Melbourne. Flinders Street Station, Eureka Tower and the Yarra River are unique to Melbourne. The City Circle tram, along with the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant, are the only W class trams now operating in Melbourne.

Melbourne has a huge coffee culture, which is represented in the latte.

The overall artwork itself is reminiscent of the women who attend the annual Melbourne Cup, wearing outrageous headpieces.

Degraves street is one of the busiest laneways in Melbourne, which sees some stores operating out of a garage style shopfront. Cafe workers enjoy smoko breaks by sitting on milk crates, and once the doors are rolled down at closing time, the laneway transforms into continuous walls of graffiti.

The Dandelion on the door represents the Dandelion Wishes Charity Gala, where this artwork will be actioned to raise funds for the new Monash Children’s Hospital, opening in 2017.
